We had some fresh watermelon left over, and gave it to the chickens for a treat. They love it!

Mods to the Home Made Feeder...
The home-built feeder works good, however, I've been noticing a lot of wasted food around it. The chickens will stick their heads in, and rake the food out and onto the ground. They'll eventually pick some of it up, but I'm concerned about this starting a problem with mice.
After watching closely, I decided to fabricate and install a small ledge at the bottom of the opening, to try and make it difficult to drag food out and onto the ground. I installed the ledge on all feeder ports with hot melt glue. This has greatly reduced waste, check out these pics and video...

Coop "Shutters"
