Here's another batch of pics of Baby Bird. We're fairly sure, now, that she is a "Modern Game Hen". She has beautiful plumage, and is by far the most loving bird of the flock. She now comes regularly to be held and rubbed, talks in a strange chatter to us, and has become quite fond of vanilla cream cookies :-) . There have been two major milestones with her, recently... 1- she stopped nesting in the trees (requiring me to climb and get her each night) and goes into the coup at night. 2- she suddenly started socializing with the flock and now often sleeps with the rest of the flock in the big coup. Here she is at around 6 mos old...

Pepper, another large rooster...
There were 6 babies hatched on June 25, 2022. One of the babies was a little blond chic, very spunky and curious. As it grew, Donna named it "Pepper". Pepper was very independent and didn't like being handled much. A few months in, and we realized that Pepper was a Rooster. So far, he's pretty well behaved, but we'll see how that goes. King, the flock Rooster
While away, Donna is caring for our flock. Here's Donna with King, born in late June, and not often interested in being handled. He seems to enjoy this and is talking to Donna in the process!
Ruby, our little black hen...
Ruby is the little black her, born in late June 2022. We were worried, as she was the last to hatch, and was the runt of the clutch. Her mom spent extra time feeding here, kept her warm, and she grew strong. Here she is, enjoying some snuggling time with Donna...
Susie & Bridgette
Donna watched over and cared for Susie & Bridgette while were away. They LOVE their Donna, she really has quite the way with animals! Donna is walking Susie in one of these photos...

Lucy the Rooster
Here's a photo of the most majestic King of our yard, Lucy the Rooster. The name was an accident, but he learned and came to it... we thought he was a hen when he was a baby, but boy did he ever grow into a beautiful and smart Rooster! Here, Lucy was sitting on the door mat in front of our home, a place he liked to "own".
